In drainage systems, a water seal is a device that allows wastewater and sewage to drain smoothly and freely. The gas passage is sealed by a water column, preventing sewer gases and harmful or toxic gases from escaping into the room. A trap is a pipe fitting that acts as a water seal device. Traps are installed at the outlet of sanitary fixtures or within the structure of the sanitary fixtures themselves (such as in bathrooms). If the water seal of a sanitary fixture's trap is damaged, it can cause the fixture to bubble, overflow, splash, and release harmful and toxic sewer gases, affecting both usability and indoor air quality, and endangering people's physical and mental health.

If the water seal of the sanitary ware trap is damaged, it will cause the sanitary ware to bubble, overflow, splash, and harmful and toxic odors from the sewer to escape, affecting the use and environmental air quality, and endangering people's physical and mental health. We should strictly require various technical measures to be taken in design and construction to prevent sewer backflow. In other words, as long as bubbles are expelled from the trap due to pressure fluctuations in the pipe, it is defined as water seal failure.
Pressure fluctuations in the drainage pipe system cause the water seal of the trap to be destroyed. When the fixture drains, the sewage falls along the drainage riser. Influenced by various factors, this is an unstable gas-water movement. When the flow rate is low, the water flows spirally along the outer periphery of the pipe wall, and the airflow circulation in the pipe is normal, the ventilation is large, and the air pressure is stable. As the water volume increases, the spiral motion is destroyed, gradually changing from spiral motion to a water curtain falling state, then to a diaphragm motion, forming an unstable water plug flow. The movement of the water plug flow causes the air pressure in the pipe to change rapidly, from stable to fluctuating. The pressure in front of the water plug, namely the bottom of the drainage riser, is greater than the atmospheric pressure, which is the positive pressure value. It is this positive pressure that destroys the internal water seal of the sanitary ware on the bottom horizontal branch pipe connected to the riser, causing the water seal of the trap to be pressed upward (sewer backflow), seriously affecting the use. A negative pressure is formed behind the water plug, that is, in the upper part of the riser, which also causes the water seal of the trap to be destroyed.
At the same time, when the sanitary ware drains, the flow velocity of the water in the drainage riser is high, while the flow velocity in the horizontal branch pipe is low. A siphon suction is generated at the outflow of the trap, that is, a self-siphon phenomenon, forming a local vacuum, which destroys the water seal and causes sewer backflow. Therefore, we should pay great attention to sewer backflow and take the following technical measures to reasonably arrange the pipes and avoid such problems.
By installing a green future drainage deodorizing suction valve, the water seal in the trap can be protected from damage.
